For Angela is a documenter film based on true story of Angela Saskosky and her mother, Rhonda Gordon who get racist from three Canadian boys in the bus. They are bullying Angela because of Angela’s hairstyle which is the one of characteristic of Indian girl.
The boys act like Indian people and called Rhonda “Pocahontas”, one of Indian movie. It makes Rhonda angry, but she can control her emotion. However, the driver and the other bus passengers can’t handle this situation until that boys get off from the bus. From the experience that she got with her daughter last time, she decides to report about racist. She explains the new rules based on her opinion to change the world and make it better than before. She asks the principal to confront with the boys who were bullying her daughter. Then, the principal calls a one of the boy, named Ian. The confrontation means to educate that boy and change his behavior to another people who come from the other nationality. Finally, Ian begs Rhonda’s pardon for being so rude to Angela.

DISCUSSION
For Angela is a film about racism. This story told us about Angela and her mom who were victims of racism. There are four data to discuss the details about the movie which consist of :
Ø  Melting Pot and Mosaic
Melting pot is a metaphor for a heterogeneous society becoming more homogeneous, the different elements “melting together” into a harmonious whole with a common culture which particularly used to describe the assimilation of immigrants. Based on that movie, the setting is in Canada, a country which consists of another nationality. Angela and her mother are from Indian ethnic who live in Canada. They belong to a minority group in Canada.
Mosaic is the mix of ethnic groups, language, and cultures that coexist within society which the idea is intended to suggest a form of multiculturalism. Based on that movie, Rhonda asks Ian to give her a chance for express what she has such as her nationality and her culture.

Ø  Generalization and Stereotypes
Generalization is a statement based on a finite set of observations and experiences and yet which claims to hold true for the larger set, even for those cases that have been seen or experienced, to be theoretical. Based on that movie, the generalization of Indian people seems by Angela’s hairstyle, which is the characteristic of most Indian girl.
Stereotype is a thought that can be adopted about specific types of individuals or certain ways of doing things which may or may not accurately reflect reality. Based on that movie, the three Canadian boys have a stereotype that Indian people always practice their traditional dance whenever and wherever they go. Therefore, they practice the dance and act like Indian people.

Ø  Individualism and Privacy
Individualism is the moral stance, political philosophy, ideology, or social outlook that emphasizes the moral worth of the individual which make them focus. Based on that movie, the three Canadian boys disturb Angela and her mom which make them don’t focus on their life.
Privacy is the ability of an individual to seclude them or information about themselves and thereby express themselves selectively. Based on that movie, Angela and her mother try to keep their privacy, but their identity, which is a one of characteristic of Indian girl, are still visible.

Ø  Equality and Egalitarianism
Equality is about creating a fairer society, where everyone can participate and has the opportunity to fulfill their potential. Based on that movie, the three Canadian boys treat Angela and her mom differently. So, Angela’s mom asks them to treat her and Angela fairly.
Egalitarianism is a trend of thought that favors equality for all people. Based on that movie, Rhonda makes a report about racism. Racism killed them. So, she wants to make a change of the world without racism.

CONCLUSION
From the evidence above, I conclude that the movie taught us to be more respectful and being aware of whom we are and developing skills to allow us to be successful in cross cultural interaction, are essential for life now and in the future. Therefore, keep the solidarity with everyone, no matter where they came from or what the nationality they were.

-“Racism is still with us. The best way to delete racism is with solidarity.-
